The Life and Times of Kevin Perry

Tips To Help Avoid Being Scammed.

Scams involving making money on the internet have been wide spread over the last 5 years or more. Everywhere you search, there are countless websites and threads (on forums) trying to sell their product to you.

How do you know if a product is legit?

If you’re going to purchase directly from a website, make sure you do some research before you buy. Try going to Google (or your favorite search engine) and typing ‘the program name review’…obviously replacing ‘the program name’ with the program you are interested in. Now from the search results go through the webpages and see what others have to say. Be careful doing this! You will find a lot of reviews that have an affiliate link for the product in question….AVOID these reviews! Try to find an honest review that doesn’t link back to the site in question.

If you’re going to purchase a ebook or program from a forum, such as Digital Point, you should still do a little research. Go through the entire thread (even if it’s 20 pages) and read every post. A lot of times the person looking to sell the ebook or product will offer review copies at a discounted rate in exchange for a review in their thread. If you can’t find any reviews, try searching the forum to see if this person has tried to sell this product before. Chances are that if the product didn’t get good reviews in the original thread the person would probably open another thread and try to sell the product again. If you can’t find any useful information on the product, it’s probably best not to purchase it at that time.

Hopefully this will help you the next time you are interested in an ebook or online product. If you know of any scams that should be reported, post them here in the comments section so everyone can see.

Pagerank Update July 2008

I knew that there was going to be a pagerank update in the near future, but I didn’t expect it to be in July. I thought I would have another month or so to build links for www.blogthedogs.com. With that being said, my dog blog did not get an increase in pagerank.

However, I was able to get a PR2 for this site as well as a PR4 (up from PR3) on www.richlowerclassjerk.com. RLCJ also has some PR2 and PR3 inner pages as a result of the pagerank update as well.

I’m going to use my updated pagerank and Digital Point to build backlinks through link exchanges with other high PR sites.

New Poker Website

I’ve been playing alot of poker at PartyPoker.com lately, so I decided to create a site dedicated to poker.

The site is called www.PokerYak.com, which I just created last week. The site is still not fully functional, as I still have to write some pages for the lessons section.

I have signed up for a bunch of poker affiliate sites, so hopefully I can generate some revenue off of their links. I have also added Adsense ads to the top and bottom of the page.

If you’re at all interested in poker, be sure to check out my site because you are sure to find something interesting.

Back on DigitalPoint Next Week!

Back in March, I was banned from DigialPoint forums for bumping a thread I created several times. I knew what I was doing was against the rules and I got caught for it, so the only person to blam was myself.

Being away from DigitalPoint for almost 4 months now has really opened my eyes to how much I used it in the past. I’m trying to get some link exchanges for my Dog Blog and sell links on my PR3 Make Money site, but there’s just not a lot of other resources out there. I’ve recently discovered sitepoint, which is great for selling websites, but they lack in terms of people looking to exchange links and buy them.

The other thing I miss is all the backlinks I get from putting my links in my signature. Once you’re banned, you signature disappears until your ban is lifted. So once i’m back on DP, I should see my backlink numbers rise significantly, since I have almost 500 posts in DP.

There’s a lesson in all this. Follow the rules….because you’ll never know how much you rely on something until it’s taken away.

BlogtheDogs Update

My site has been live for about 20 days now and I now have 18 posts indexed by Google. In terms of Adsense, i’ve been getting around 15-20 impressions a day on each of my ads and only making a few cents per day…hopefully that will go up as the site gets more popular. Also, there has not been a pagerank update since my site launched, so my PR has not changed as of today.

I’ve been getting a few great comments on my posts, which tells me that people are reading my blog…which is great! Comments will also make my pages more important in search engine rankings. Today, removed the no follow tag on comments with a plugin called Do Follow (go figure). Now commenters will get credit for their links, which should also get me some more comments.
